Mission Statement: The mission of St. Vincent de Paul Village is to prevent and end homelessness one life at a time. We achieve our mission by providing outcome-based programs in the spirit of our CREED (Compassion, Respect, Empathy, Empowerment, Dignity).
Advancing Health and Wellness: St. Vincent de Paul Village (SVdPV) is changing the way healthcare is provided to homeless, impoverished and medically indigent people in San Diego. Our integrated Village Family Health Center (VFHC), a California-licensed community clinic and Federally Qualified Health Center, targets homeless and impoverished patients with a unique delivery system combining psychiatry and primary care in a single site. The on-site VFHC offers a full range of integrated medical services, including general medicine, preventative care, dental services, psychiatry, pediatrics, dermatology, ophthalmology, gynecology, dentistry, laboratory, dispensary and health education services.
By combining medical, dental and mental health services in one location and leveraging unique community partnerships, we are able to address the full complexity of our patients’ health needs. One example of our innovative collaborations is our partnership with the University of California San Diego (UCSD) School of Medicine. Together with UCSD medical residents, we provide patients with integrated primary medical and psychiatric services under “one white coat.” The VFHC serves as a training site for UCSD medical students and resident physicians from the Combined Family Medicine-Psychiatry Residency Program.
Description: As San Diego’s largest provider of residential homeless services, SVdPV improves the quality of life for approximately 15,000 homeless and impoverished individuals each year. We are committed to addressing the full spectrum of our clients’ unique needs, including individualized housing, multidisciplinary team case management, therapeutic childcare, daily nutritious meals, employment and education services and integrated behavioral and physical healthcare. To most effectively address the evolving needs of San Diego’s homeless population, SVdPV consistently leverages partnerships with community, nonprofit and governmental organizations. It is only with the support of agencies like Alliance Healthcare Foundation that we are able to effectively prevent and end homelessness in our community.
