AHF Welcomes New Team Members
We are pleased to welcome Melanie Mijares and Anthony Nguyen to our AHF team. Melanie and Anthony both bring experience in working with nonprofits and community as well as their personal lived experience that has helped guide and inform their career journeys. We look forward to their contributions to AHF’s mission and our community engagement.
Melanie has joined the team as our new Program Associate. She brings 13 years of nonprofit community engagement experience working with diverse, historically underserved and marginalized communities, connecting them to valuable resources like identity affirming services, college readiness programs, food and public health programs. Most recently, she served as the Volunteer and Outreach Manager for Reality Changers, where she was tasked with recruiting, training, onboarding and supporting all Reality Changers volunteers. Previously she served as San Diego Pride’s Bilingual Community Outreach Coordinator, and prior to that she was MANA de San Diego’s Hermanitas Program Coordinator, where she advocated for youth-led initiatives which resulted in the Youth Advisory Council and a Youth Representative in the organization’s Board of Directors.
