Monarch School Project
Mission Statement: The mission of Monarch School is to educate students impacted by homelessness and to help them develop hope for a future with the necessary skills and experiences for personal success. Monarch is a K-12 school offering a comprehensive program of education and support services designed to help chronically homeless children overcome poverty.
Advancing Health and Wellness: Monarch provides a safe and supportive environment for learning, including meeting our students’ basic needs, providing physical and mental health care, and offering a health and wellness curriculum.
Description: Monarch provides students with basic necessities including access to shower and laundry facilities, hygiene kits, clothing and shoes, daily meals and snacks, and backpacks and school supplies. Through our on-campus Health Clinic students have access to health care including medical, dental and vision care. We provide behavioral and mental health care through our Student Support Center, where Monarch’s team works with our students and their families to empower them to feel safe and make healthy choices. Our Health and Wellness curriculum includes instruction in yoga, dance, physical education, gardening, cooking, and healthy eating. In all of our programs we have drawn from best practices in the field of education including restorative, strength-based and trauma-informed care.
