Happy Fall Everyone!

Hispanic Heritage Month started on September 15 and will continue to October 15, 2022. This is the time where we recognize and celebrate the contributions Hispanics and Latinos from Spain, Mexico, Central America, South America, and the Spanish-speaking nations of the Caribbean make to our U.S. society and culture. The observance was born in 1968, when Congress authorized President Johnson to issue an annual proclamation designating National Hispanic Heritage Week. Two decades later, lawmakers expanded it to a month-long celebration. In addition, Mexico celebrates their Mexican Independence Day as “Fiesta Patrias” on September 16, 2022.

Upcoming celebrations:

  • The Chicano Federation – Hispanic Heritage Celebration, Sept 30 at Mujeres Brew House in Barrio Logan
  • MANA de San Diego – Latina Success Conference, Oct 22 at San Diego State University
