Mission Statement: The mission of the Sister Evelyn Mourey Center is to enhance the welfare of those who live in poverty in the Imperial Valley Community, making every effort to enhance their living conditions by providing food, clothing, social services and skills to prepare them to obtain better jobs.
Our Vision: Our vision is to serve our community, especially families experiencing poverty or unjust situations. To enhance respect and dignity for all. To promote excellence in service.
Our commitment calls us to stand in solidarity with the poor and oppressed and to respond to their needs. It also commits us to foster justice and take a prophetic and non-institutional stance in church and society. These are embodied in the Mission Statement of the Sister Evelyn Mourey Center. The Sister Evelyn Mourey Center provides the following services to persons regardless of race, color, or creed:
- USDA Commodities Distribution
- Emergency Food Pantry
- Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP)
- Emergency Clothing
- Application and Translation Services
- Resource & Referral Assistance
- Citizenship Classes
- English as a Second Language (ESL) Classes
- Basic Computer Classes
- Cake Decorating Classes
- Enrichment and Educational Presentations
- Senior Citizens Activities
- AL-ANON Meetings
