Mission Statement: The purpose of VVSD is to rehabilitate veterans who are homeless and/or suffering from mental illness or substance abuse. VVSD is dedicated to extending assistance to needy and homeless veterans of all eras and their families by providing housing, food, clothing, substance abuse recovery and mental health counseling and employment.
Impact Statement: In addition to addiction treatment and mental health therapy, VVSD, maintains an active partnership with the Veterans Administration Health Care programs and the Family Health Center in San Diego County. Our programs insure that those that are eligible for VA Health Care are enrolled and those that are not eligible are seen and treated at the on-site clinic operated by Family Health Center. This process is followed for all VVSD programs, including the City of San Diego Veteran Only Winter Shelter.
