Mission Statement: SDSU shall provide well-balanced, high quality education for undergraduate and graduate students and to contribute to knowledge and the solution of problems through excellence and distinction in teaching, research, and service. The university shall impart an appreciation and broad understanding of human experience throughout the world and the ages.

Impact Statement: As part of the San Diego State University’s Shared Vision, the campus and greater community have identified the goal of creating a community proud of its diversity and committed to furthering social justice on and off the campus. Health disparities are diversity and social justice priorities. SDSU has a firm standing commitment to the health and well-being of the entire San Diego community. As one of the top twenty most ethnically diverse universities in the nation, SDSU is positioned to positively influence future leaders. We can continue to have a significant impact on the numerous health disparities challenging diverse communities throughout San Diego. By engaging a diverse and energetic campus the university will support numerous innovative health disparity related programming, activities, outreach. Therefore, addressing social injustices that directly impact the health and well-being of historically under-represented and economically marginalized people and communities.
