Mission Statement: The San Diego LGBT Community Center’s mission is to enhance and sustain the health and well-being of the LGBT and HIV communities by providing activities, programs and services that create community, to empower community members, to provide essential resources, to advocate for civil and human rights and to embrace, promote and support our cultural diversity.

Advancing Health and Wellness: For more than 40 years, the San Diego LGBT Community Center has provided innovative health and social services to the underserved and marginalized members of San Diego County’s LGBT and HIV communities. Delivering direct services and vital resources for community members across all life-stages – families and children, adolescents and youth, adults in transition and seniors – our programs provide more than 60,000 service visits a year. Each day, programs that include Behavioral Health Services, HIV Services, Youth Housing Project, Hillcrest Youth Center, Latino Services and Family Matters address the health and wellness needs of our community members. Our most vulnerable community members, including those with few resources, those un-insured or under-insured, those who are homeless and those who have had traditional barriers to access, find help and new hope at The Center.

Description: The San Diego Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Community Center, Inc., (d.b.a., The Center) is the nation’s second oldest and third largest LGBT community center. Functioning as the LGBT community’s anchor organization, The Center is led by a 20-member board of directors, employing over 50 paid staff and utilizing more than 1,000 community volunteers to achieve its twin goals of promoting LGBT health and human rights. The Center provides direct program services to the many different facets of the LGBT community, including men, women, youth, seniors, families, LGBT Latino community members and their families and those struggling with HIV. Last year, The Center provided more than 60,000 direct service visits to San Diego community members, and through its events, activities and advocacy, touched the lives of thousands more.
