Guaranteed Income Pilot Launches in San Diego County

Three million children were lifted out of poverty in U.S. households that received the first expanded Child Tax Credit Check in July. This is guaranteed income for families.
In San Diego, progress towards the launch of the Jewish Family Services/San Diego for Every Child (JFS/SDEC) Guaranteed Basic Income Pilot (GBI) continues to move forward. In November/December, JFS/SDEC will be conducting a series of outreach events and community conversations to familiarize the community with the concept and opportunity of the guaranteed income pilot. The eligibility survey for the pilot will go live in early December with the first payments going out March 2022.

About basic income
A guaranteed income is a monthly, cash payment given directly to individuals. It is unconditional, with no strings attached and no work requirements. A guaranteed income is meant to supplement, rather than replace, the existing social safety net and can be a tool for racial and gender equity. This restores power, trust, and agency to people.
