Our Mission: The Children and Parents Council’s mission is to prevent child abuse and to raise awareness through countywide parent education in English and Spanish, parent/community seminars, teen support groups and the annual Children’s Fair.

Our Strategy: The council equips parents with the skills necessary to handle the stress of parenting and to better nurture family relationships. We provide public awareness, public education, and parent education. Through this, we teach parenting styles and strategies, and we give parents resources to become better equipped to handle their children’s needs at home. Even after their cases are closed, we maintain a strong relationship with our participants, encouraging them to constantly sharpen their parenting skills for themselves and for their family, for their children.

As part of our strategy, we travel to different cities throughout our county once a month and provide a specific, challenging topic that parents currently face in their homes. After identifying this area of stress for parents, we talk about how to
