Mission Statement: Our mission is to help at-risk youth and their families become self-sufficient and reach their highest potential.

Advancing Health and Wellness: SDYS is a trauma-informed agency in philosophy and participates with the County Live Well initiative. In addition to directly housing homeless youth, SDYS implements a wellness policy that encourages activity, healthy eating and healthy food options for our youth clientele. SDYS has developed a community garden education center, community garden, Farmers Market, Yoga and Zumba classes and employs Street Yoga as an intervention for our clientele. Moreover, Street Yoga is a promising practice that utilizes breathing and movement with the idea that these strategies can be employed anywhere. This is especially important when used with our most vulnerable for exploitation and homeless youth populations.
