Mission Statement: The San Diego County Medical Society Foundation (SDCMSF)’s mission is to improve community health, access to care for all, and wellness for patients and physicians through engaged volunteerism.

Impact Statement: Project Access San Diego (PASD) is the flagship program of SDCMSF. PASD is the only comprehensive, coordinated network of donated healthcare services for low-income, uninsured patients in San Diego County. Since December 2008, PASD has leveraged over $5M in donated healthcare services for over 1,534 patients. Services include specialty consults, diagnostics, medical supplies, medication, and inpatient and outpatient surgeries.

To ensure the efficacy of the donated healthcare services, we also provide intensive case management. For a relatively low cost investment, we ensure that our patients maximize the healthcare resources made available to them. For example, in 2011, PASD coordinated over 1,863 patient appointments with a 99% show rate. As an outcome of PASD, our patients report fewer visits to the Emergency Department, fewer visits to their clinic and improved health.
