San Diego-based Foundation Now Accepting Applications for $1 Million Innovation Initiative
San Diego, CA—Alliance Healthcare Foundation (AHF), a nonprofit organization which works to advance health and wellness for the poor and underserved in San Diego and Imperial County, recently opened the application period for its annual $1 million grant, the Innovation Initiative (i2).
“Alliance Healthcare Foundation is excited to announce the 2015 round of our Innovation Initiative Award,” AHF Executive Director Nancy Sasaki said. “We’ve seen and supported some incredibly creative and ambitious projects in the past with this award, and we look forward to doing the same this year.”
Developed in 2010, The Innovation Initiative rewards San Diego and Imperial County nonprofits for creating innovative solutions that significantly and positively impact health and wellness issues through systems change. With this award, AHF seeks to alter the status quo by funding innovation designed to enhance the lives of those people most in need in its community.
Previous recipients of AHF’s Innovation Initiative include Solutions for Change, Community Information Exchange (CIE), T
ext4baby, One-e-App, Access Youth Academy and the University of California-San Diego.
“We’ve seen the Innovation Initiative enable local organizations to launch groundbreaking programs and services in the community,” AHF Board Chair Elizabeth Dreicer said. “This funding opportunity can legitimately open up new avenues for reducing costs, increasing capacity and improving quality for the San Diego and Imperial County region.”
Scott Bechtler-Levin, executive director of CIE, said the Innovation Initiative helped his organization to not only meet their short-term goals, but to grow and expand well into the future as well.
“The transformative power of AHF’s Innovation Initiative grant program goes well beyond their substantial financial investment,” Bechtler-Levin said. “On a regular and sustained basis, we feel the impact of Nancy’s and AHF Board’s support, connections and credibility. And along with the high expectations, AHF provides the flexibility and adaptability to learn and grow your impact.”
