Alliance Healthcare Foundation is proud to announce a new team member: Garrick Wong. In the newly created position of Senior Director of Strategy, Garrick will play an integral role in providing ongoing strategic support, visionary leadership, technical capacity, and project management for Alliance across a variety of issue areas in both our grant making programmatic work, as well as through our impact investment portfolio.

“We are excited to introduce Garrick to San Diego and our partners,” says Sarah Lyman, Executive Director. “He brings a wealth of experience in the philanthropic sector as well as in health policy, nonprofit management, strategic planning, and evaluation. Garrick is a strategic thinker with a passion for systems-change and advancing equity. We are thrilled to add his talents to our team.”

Garrick joins us from Connecticut Health Foundation where he was Director of Grantmaking. In addition to leading the foundation’s grant making activities, Garrick was also responsible for public policy, leadership development, and nonprofit capacity building efforts.

Garrick previously served as a community benefit specialist at El Camino Hospital in California, where he guided the organization’s community health improvement initiatives and grant making efforts. Prior to joining the hospital, Garrick was a program associate in the David and Lucile Packard Foundation’s Children, Families, and Communities Program, which works to ensure that all children and their families have access to quality and affordable health insurance coverage. Before that, Garrick was a health policy advocate at the California Immigrant Policy Center. Garrick received his M.P.A. from the University of Southern California’s Sol Price School of Public Policy, and his B.A. in Political Science from the University of California, Davis.

On a personal note, Garrick and his wife and children are delighted to be back in California.

In the upcoming weeks, we hope you’ll have a chance to meet and get to know Garrick. Please help us welcome him to our community.
