34 San Diego Nonprofits Receive Multi-year, Unrestricted, Core Operating Funding
Funding local safety net organizations that are filling a niche
Alliance Healthcare Foundation (Alliance) is pleased to announce the organizations that have been selected to receive its 2024 Mission Support grant funding. This is a three-year, unrestricted, core operating support grant. Selected grantees are aligned with AHF’s mission to advance health and wellness for underserved and marginalized communities in San Diego County.
The Mission Support grant funding ranges from $25,000 to $30,000 per year for each organization, for three years. Organizations may use the funds in any way that best meets the most pressing needs of the clients they serve. The total Mission Support grant funding is $900,000 per year with a total of $2.7 million over three years to be given to local organizations.
“We prioritize our Mission Support grant funding in communities with the greatest social and health inequities and with grantee partners whose efforts are led or informed by the communities they serve,” said Barbara Orozco-Valdivia, Vice President of Programs and Community Partnerships. “With this intent in mind, we were grounded in racial disparity data throughout our grant and decision-making evaluations.”
The selected grantees range in size, population served, type of services provided, and regions covered throughout San Diego. “Health and wellness inequities are found throughout the County of San Diego. We selected agencies that represent the vast majority of our community as much as possible based on the applications we received and our limited budget,” said Orozco-Valdivia.
“Supporting great organizations is vital to our mission. Through our Mission Support grant program, Alliance aims to provide funding to organizations that align with our mission to advance health equity with an explicit focus on underserved and marginalized communities and specifically communities of color,” stated Sarah Lyman, Executive Director, Alliance Healthcare Foundation. “We’re seeking partners with strong leadership in eliminating equity gaps and addressing social determinants of health.”
