AHF Welcomes Barbara Orozco-Valdivia!
We are pleased to announce that Barbara Orozco-Valdivia has joined our team as Senior Director of Strategy and External Relations. Barbara will play an integral role in providing ongoing strategic support, visionary leadership, technical capacity, and project management for Alliance across a variety of issue areas in both our grant making programmatic work, as well as through our impact investment portfolio.
Born and raised in San Diego, Barbara brings over 25 years of professional healthcare experience along with deep networks to her new role with AHF. She has executive level leadership experience in non-profit, social impact and corporate giving roles, along with a demonstrated track record of supporting organizations in their efforts to advance health equity.
Most recently, Barbara served as Health Equity Consultant and Government & Stakeholder Engagement Manager for Blue Shield of California and was just highlighted as a “Latinx Leader” from the Blue Shield team. Prior to that, she worked extensively with Health Net as their Regional Community Relations Manager. She has served on many community boards, including the Jackie Robinson YMCA (for almost 20 years), MANA de San Diego, co-chairing the Latina Success Conference and more. Barbara was awarded the County of San Diego’s “Most Valuable Partner” award for her role in a creating a public health focused community coalition, and recently was honored with the “Mission & Values in Action” award at Blue Shield, the highest honor awarded annually to individuals and teams who champion innovative ideas and whose achievements create a positive change in support of the company mission and values.
