ECONOMIC MOBILITY & SECURITY INITIATIVE:
CREATING EQUITABLE WORKFORCE PATHWAYS
Wealth and health are inextricably linked, and one of the primary ways to build financial security is through quality employment.
Our focus on supporting equitable workforce pathways is ultimately about creating opportunities for workers to increase their income and wealth building potential.
A few projects we are supporting include:
- Seed funding to explore expansion opportunities for recyclable (sustainable) “Income Share Agreement” models that can support historically marginalized workers in accessing quality careers with upward mobility.
- Support for the Behavioral Health Workforce report conducted by the San Diego Workforce Partnership and the County of San Diego to assess the current workforce shortage and building recommendations for solutions.
- Expanding employee ownership models for small businesses with majority BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) employees through an impact investment in Project Equity. Worker ownership is an evidence-based wealth generation tool for frontline workers and their families.
- Several of our past Mission Support grantees also focus on workforce equity, including Kitchens for Good, Center for Employment Opportunities, and Urban Corps of San Diego.
