Based on the thesis that innovation capital (“venture philanthropy”) is needed to transform the current health paradigm (high cost and poor outcomes) for the most vulnerable populations.

Innovation Initiative (i2) $1 Million Grant Challenge
With the i2 Grant Challenge, we seek promising innovation to transform the current health paradigm of high cost and poor outcomes to improve quality, increase capacity, and reduce costs for the most vulnerable populations in San Diego and/or Imperial counties. The i2 Challenge represents a six-month demonstration and workshop cycle that allows eligible i2 applicants to hone their business plan and grant proposal with the aid of experts provided by Alliance. The six-months also allows our Program and Evaluation Committees time to get to know the finalists and develop a deeper understanding of their innovation solution.

2020 i2 – POSTPONED
The next Innovation Initiative (i2) Challenge has been postponed indefinitely in light of COVID-19. We are continually monitoring the evolving situation and focusing our grants and resources to support urgent priorities. We will publicly announce the timing for the next grant challenge as soon as it is scheduled. To be sure you get notified, please sign up for our updates. Thank you for your patience.
